March work continues

March work continues

Snow is falling outside, the pulmber is toiling in the basement trying to get our boiler to function, winter is here!
We are working on a short guitar instrumental, I may possibly add in some flute or oboe,or some more guitar, I need to think on that, but the overall plan is to shoot some footage to go with this little piece and add it here, as well as on my Youtube channel . It’s a piece I wrote a long time back, I’ve usually played it live, just becuase I enjoy it and people seem to also. At the moment, we are cut off by floods, once that situation improves, we plan to take the camera and film some of the beautiul Welsh scenery. We are spoilt for choice here, everywhere there are waterfalls, rolling hillsides and green valleys. I can see in my minds eye what I’d like , but actually getting that right is always harder than I think it will be! Steve has some new camera bits and bobs to try , so we’re really looking forward to the weather being a bit kinder. Just dry would be nice! It seems that rain or snow has been falling for weeks. In the meantime , we will perfect the recording we have so far, maybe try a different guitar. The old Lowden I have plays wonderfully and is my favourite to play live, just because I know it so well and feel confident it wont let me down. Recording, however, is a whole different world. What sounds perfect to your ears in a live situation, may not sound so great once recorded.I am trying out a Guild D40 which we have in the shop,( we own Knighton Music Centre, if you love gorgeous guitars take a look). It’s a more even tone, top to bottom, than the Lowden, so from a recording point of view, it’s easier to work with. It’s also really really easy to play, my fingers just dance and skip across the neck with no effort at all, so, once this little piece is up on the site, that’s going to be the guitar you’ll hear.
