lockdown

Since we are now stuck in the house to avoid catching the virus, we are pressing on with recording and filming. We managed to shoot some footage in the house, using various little tricks and I think we’ll be able to venture out into the remote parts of Powys for some nice film of countryside and sky. In normal circumstances we hardly ever see anyone and even then, we can see them a long way off and take avoiding action. If it comes to it, we can film in the garden, but there is only so much footage you can use without it becomming obvious that you’re going round and round your own garden! I’m also doing more painted stained glass work for lanterns and some folding screens, which we’ll be using as props, you can see photos of them on Facebook and I’ll add some here. I think Steve is going to be an expert at special effects by the time the restrictions are lifted, but new skills are always good to have and who knows what the world will look like once this epidemic is over. I think it’s all too easy to be negative about the situation we’re facing, but there are positives too. More time to focus tightly on things that can get pushed aside during normal times. If you love to do anything creative, now is the time to indulge that passion and see where it leads. Write your book, paint, sew, garden, cook, whatever it is, now is your moment. I have a short guitar instrumental recorded and we’ll try to shoot a video in the studio and get that on the site in the next few days. Having said that, its often simple little things that you think you’ll breeze through with no problem, that end up being a real pain in the neck! My problem with projects like this little piece is that I keep hearing more things I’d like to add and instead of just a simple, single guitar, it turns into half an orchestra and choir! I shall exersize constraint and promise myself to return to the project in the future for orchestras etc.
